🔒 Your Health Data Matters: Information about your sobriety status and recovery journey is considered sensitive personal data. We handle it with the highest level of care and never sell it to third parties.

Account Information:

- Password (encrypted and never stored in plain text)
Profile Information:
- Display name, age, gender, sexual orientation
- Photos and selfies (for profile and verification)
- Bio, prompts, and conversation starters
- City, state, and location coordinates (for matching within your radius)
Sobriety & Recovery Information (Sensitive Data):
- Sobriety status (sober, sober-curious, in recovery)
- Sobriety date and milestones
- Recovery badges (optional)
- Statements about your recovery journey
Usage Data:
- Swipes (left/right), matches, messages sent/received
- Features used (boosts, SuperSwipes, gifts)
- Device information (browser, operating system, IP address)
- Session data (login times, pages visited)
Payment Information:
- Credit/debit card details (processed securely by Stripe—we never store your full card number)
- Purchase history and subscription status
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your data to:
- Provide and improve our services: Create your profile, match you with compatible users, facilitate messaging
- Personalize your experience: Show you relevant matches based on location, preferences, and sobriety status
- Verify your identity: Use photo verification (via OpenAI) to confirm you are who you say you are
- Moderate content: Use AI (OpenAI) to detect harmful content, harassment, and substance promotion
- Process payments: Handle subscriptions and in-app purchases via Stripe
- Communicate with you: Send account updates, match notifications, and promotional emails (you can opt out)
- Ensure safety: Detect fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service
- Comply with legal obligations: Respond to lawful requests from authorities
3. How We Share Your Information
We do NOT sell your data. We only share your information in these limited circumstances:
With Other Users:
- Your public profile (name, age, photos, bio, location) is visible to other users
- Sobriety information is visible only if you choose to include it in your profile
- Messages are private between you and your matches
With Service Providers:
- Stripe: Processes payments securely (subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy)
- OpenAI: Analyzes photos for verification and moderates content (subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy)
- Hosting providers: Store your data securely on cloud servers (Render, Neon)
For Legal Compliance:
- We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of users
4. Data Retention
Active Accounts: We retain your data for as long as your account is active.
Deleted Accounts: When you delete your account, we remove your profile within 30 days. Some data (e.g., payment records) may be retained for legal/accounting purposes.
Messages: Messages are stored until you or your match deletes the conversation or account.
5. Your Data Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of all data we have about you
- Correct: Update inaccurate or incomplete information in your profile settings
- Delete: Permanently delete your account and associated data
- Export: Download your data in a machine-readable format (JSON)
- Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails (account notifications still apply)

7. Location Data
ZeroProof collects location data to match you with nearby users:
- State: Used to show matches in your state
- Coordinates: Optional precise location (latitude/longitude) for radius-based matching
- Control: You can update or remove your location at any time in settings
Location data is NOT shared with other users—only approximate distance (e.g., "5 miles away") is shown.
8. Cookies & Tracking
We use cookies and session storage to:
- Keep you logged in (session cookies)
- Remember your preferences (e.g., language, theme)
- Analyze site usage and improve performance
You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some features may not work properly.
9. AI Processing & OpenAI
Photo Verification: When you submit a verification selfie, OpenAI compares it to your profile photo to confirm identity. The selfie is processed temporarily and not stored long-term by OpenAI.
Content Moderation: OpenAI analyzes messages, photos, and profiles to detect harmful content (harassment, substance promotion, explicit material). Flagged content may be reviewed by our team.
By using these features, you consent to temporary processing by OpenAI under their Privacy Policy.
10. Data Security
We protect your data with:
- Encryption: Passwords are hashed with scrypt; data in transit uses HTTPS
- Access controls: Only authorized personnel can access sensitive data
- Regular audits: We review security practices to identify vulnerabilities
No system is 100% secure. While we take reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Children's Privacy
ZeroProof is NOT for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we discover an account belongs to someone under 18, we will delete it immediately.
12. International Users
ZeroProof is based in the United States. If you use our services from outside the U.S., your data will be transferred to and stored in the U.S. By using ZeroProof, you consent to this transfer.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or in-app notification. Continued use of ZeroProof after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
